Time to head “Back to the Mat”? Read on and find out what keeps me coming back…
If you are new to my page and we haven’t met before, hi! And if we have, welcome. Whether you know me or not, you probably don’t know this….
As a Pilates teacher there is an assumption that I should be strong, fit, never injured and REALLY healthy!! ☀️
Well, I can tell you, I will be going for it this Christmas – I have the mince pies lined up, the chocolates on the tree and the mulled wine at the ready🎄
BUT, one thing I do know is that I have the discipline to enjoy a few days of indulgence, guilt free, because I will pull it back together on the 27th for my 5 day “Back to the Mat” challenge (at least in part – wellness and mince pies!!)
The reason I know that is because I know how beneficial movement is for me. I don’t need to run or left heavy weights, but I do need to move my body – flex, extend, rotate and twist – to reconnect, stay well and not let a few days of indulgence turn into a few months…
As a teenager I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue and M.E. This has had a massive impact on my life because the diagnosis at the time was to REST. Years later I now know that it was the wrong diagnosis for me. Actually what I need to do is MOVE. It engages my brain, lowers my stress, strengthens my body, circulates my blood, reduces my fatigue, stretches my limbs and makes me feel GREAT – after 15 minutes i’m energised, less lethargic and much more alert.
We all come to “Back to the Mat” for different reasons but whatever your reasons, I can promise you that you won’t regret taking part, you’ll only ever feel better. But most importantly it will keep YOU at the top of YOUR priority list – exactly where you should remain for 2021!
